•
He
was born on February 22, 1949 in Vienna, Austria.
He is an entrepreneur, former Formula One (F1)
racing driver and three-time F1 World Champion.
August 1, 1976 his car burst into flames, but,
unlike Lunger, he was trapped in the wreckage.
He suffered severe burns to his head and inhaled
hot toxic gases that damaged his lungs and blood.
He was conscious and able to stand immediately
after the accident, he later lapsed into a coma
and a priest administered the last rites. Incredibly,
however, he not only survived but returned to
race only six weeks (two races) later, finishing
a sensational fourth in the Italian GP.

Novelist
Czechoslovakia

•
He was born on July 3, 1883 – June 3, 1924.
He was one of the major German-language novelists
and short story writers of the 20th century,
whose unique body of writing — most of it incomplete,
and published posthumously despite his wish
that it be destroyed — has become iconic in
Western literature. His most famous pieces of
writing include his short story Die Verwandlung
(The Metamorphosis) and his unfinished novel
Der Prozess (The Trial). An adjective has come
into common use to denote mundane yet absurd
and surreal circumstances of the kind commonly
found in Kafka's work.
