He was born on August 10, 1965. He is a Malian kora player who has gained international acclaim for his music. He is considered by many to be the world's finest kora player. He is a versatile performer, being equally at home with the traditional music of Mali as well as with cross-cultural collaborations with flamenco, blues, jazz, and other international styles. He comes from a long family tradition of kora players including his father who recorded the first ever kora album in 1970. He appeared in 2006 at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, and at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary.

He was born on August 23, 1963. He is a South Korean director and screenwriter. One of the most acclaimed and popular filmmakers in his native country, he is internationally renowned for what has become known as his "vengeance trilogy", which began in 2002 with Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and ended in 2005 with Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Famed American director Quentin Tarantino is an avowed fan of him and has publicly disclosed on the show Jimmy Kimmel Live! that as the head judge in the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, he personally pushed for Park's Oldboy to be awarded the Palme D'Or (the honor eventually went to Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11). Oldboy garnered the Grand Jury Prize, the second highest honor in the competition.

She has two sons: Barnabé Nuytten with Bruno Nuytten, and Gabriel-Kane Day-Lewis from her tempestuous six-year relationship with Oscar-winning British/Irish actor Daniel Day-Lewis. Gabriel-Kane was born in New York City in 1995, several months after her relationship with Day-Lewis ended.
In 1987, some French media outlets incorrectly reported that she was dying of AIDS, but she appeared on television to deny it. She was engaged to French composer Jean-Michel Jarre, but this relationship ended in a spectacular and public fashion.
