He was born on September 18, 1961 in Toulouse. He is the most famous French writer of science fiction of the 1990s. His main work is the trilogy Les Fourmis ("The Ants"), which has been translated in many languages, including English as "The Empire of the Ants".
He has written a dozen books, frequently self- and cross-referencing each other. He has also produced a movie, La Reine De Nacre ("The Mother-of-pearl Queen"), and written a play, Nos Amis Les Humains ("Our Friends, the Humans").
He is also the author of two mystery and science-fiction novels, in which the two main characters are journalists.

The character, and his comic strip, was originally created by Robert Velter (Rob-Vel) for the launch of his Journal in 1938.
He was originally an elevator (lift) operator (in French: un groom) for the Moustique Hotel.
Though the change was never shown, he has been for many years an investigation reporter for the same name magazine, alongside his best friend and co-adventurer Fantasio.

Emilio Mola

He was born on June 9, 1887 – June 3, 1937. He is Spanish, a commander of Nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39).
He is best-known for coining the phrase "fifth column." He was born in Cuba, at that time a Spanish colony, where his father, an army officer, was stationed. He enrolled at the Infantry Academy of Toledo in 1907. He served in Spain's colonial war in Morocco where he received the Medalla Militar Individual, and became an authority on military affairs. By 1927 he was a brigadier-general.
