Painter
France
•
He
was born on August 29, 1780 in Montauban, Tarn-et-Garonne,
France - January 14, 1867 in Paris. He was a
French Neoclassical painter. In 1796, he went
to Paris to study with Jacques-Louis David,
under whose tutelage he remained for four years,
finally winning the Grand Prix in 1801 for Ambassadors
of Agamemnon in the tent of Achilles.
He aspired to Neoclassical perfection, but the
pictorial traits which puzzled his contemporaries
are now appreciated as evidence of a repressed
sensuality, finding expression in Gothic arabesques
of line and limpid skin tones, beneath immaculately
painted surfaces.

Politician
Norway
•
He
was born on July 18, 1887 – October 24, 1945.
He was a Norwegian Nazi politician and officer.
He held the office of Minister President in
occupied Norway from February 1942 to the end
of World War II, while the elected social democratic
cabinet of Johan Nygaardsvold was exiled in
London.
When Germany invaded Norway on April 9, 1940,
he became the first person in history to announce
a coup d'etat during a news broadcast, declaring
an ad-hoc government during the confusion of
the invasion, hoping that Hitler would support
it. The background for this action was the flight
northwards of the King and the government, and
he feared that all political power could end
up in German hands, to the disadvantage of the
Norwegian population.
After the war he was tried for high treason
and subsequently executed by firing squad.
His name has become an eponym for traitor, especially
a collaborationist.

Autority
USA
•
He
was born on June
1, 1801 – August 29, 1877. He was the second
prophet and president of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a variety
of sobriquets, among the most popular of which
is "The American Moses," (sometimes "The Modern
Moses" or "The Mormon Moses") because, like
the biblical figure, he led his followers, the
Mormon Pioneers in an often arduous "exodus"
through a desert, to what they saw as a "promised
land."
He was also dubbed "The Lion of the Lord" for
his bold personality.
